DRIVERS are being warned of icy conditions on the roads following a rise in the number of "ice-related road traffic collisions" in Avon and Somerset last weekend (Saturday and Sunday, January 6 and 7).
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police's roads policing unit said officers recovered "more than 30 extra vehicles on top of a normal weekend due to ice-related traffic collisions" over the two days.
They added: "Please take extra care on the roads over the coming days."
The Met Office yesterday (Monday) issued a yellow warning for ice and snow across Somerset until 3am today.
Temperatures have plummeted and are set to remain closing to freezing throughout today.
They are set to gradually creep up in the next few days peaking at around 7degs C on Sunday.
