TRAVEL Somerset has issued an urgent road alert as the A38 Bristol Road near Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge will close this evening so crews can carry out urgent repairs.
The northbound carriageway of the main road will be closed at the Edithmead Roundabout in Brent Knoll, near Highbridge, from 7pm tonight (Friday, February 2).
The closure will allow Bristol Water crews to undertake urgent repairs to a nearby burst water main.
According to a map of the area, the issue appears to be near to The Fox and Goose Hotel Bar and Restaurant.
Southbound traffic towards Edithmead will reportedly be unaffected, and the road is expected to re-open by 9am on Saturday, February 3.
Travel Somerset said a diversion route will be in place, although details of this are yet to be published.
The pavement will remain open during the works.
A spokesperson for Travel Somerset said: "We do our utmost to minimise disruption where possible."
