Weston-super-Mare Carnival has published a list of car parks ahead of this year's procession, which will be held on Friday, November 8.

Some car parks will be affected by the road closures put in place for the procession, and others will not.

A carnival spokesperson explained: "Below are two lists of carparks, the first not impacted by the road closures, where there are uninterrupted routes out of town e.g., the old toll road or if you park on the beach lawns head out towards the hospital roundabout etc.

"The second list are carparks where you will need to arrive before the road closures starting at 4.30pm and will not be able to leave until approximately 10pm when the road closures are lifted."

The spokesperson strongly urged residents to meticulously consider the choice of their parking location: "Please be mindful and considerate of where you park.

"Don't block drives, allow space on the streets for a fire engine or ambulance to get down."

They also reminded the attendees to adhere to parking regulations and warnings to avoid receiving parking tickets on the carnival night.

The spokesperson continued: "Stick to the local parking instructions signs and don't park on the yellow lines, we wouldn't want a great evening upset for you by a parking ticket!"

All carparks have disabled spaces, the closest carpark to the parade is Grove Park.

"There will be a designated area on the beach lawns parking closest to the end of the parade for blue badge holders.

"All on a first come first served basis."

However, the Tesco car park will remain closed and overnight camping will be strictly forbidden in any of the carparks.

Furthermore, vehicles parked on the Hildesheim Bridge will be removed due to safety and security measures.

The spokesperson also noted that there will be no dedicated area for campervan parking and viewing the parade from cars along the route will not be possible.

They advised attendees to use Google Maps for accurate walking durations from carparks to the parade.

Finally, they pointed attendees in need of parking spaces to www.justpark.com, a website where driveway spaces can be booked.

He also said the first area of the beach lawns will be reserved for blue badge holders on a first come first served basis.
