WESTON Crematorium is opening its doors to the local community for an open day on Saturday, September 21.

The event will give visitors the chance to take a behind the scenes tour of the crematorium and its facilities, including the opportunity to learn about how a cremator is operated and to de-mystify what happens behind the scenes.

The friendly team at the crematorium, as well as a number of local end-of-life specialists, will also be on hand to answer any questions.

Gayle Pritchard, business leader at the crematorium, said: “We will be offering guided walking tours of the crematorium and grounds, including showing visitors the facilities we have in our service chapel to demonstrate how we can personalise a funeral to their loved one.

“We will also showcase our beautiful Gardens of Remembrance.

Continued Gayle: “Our Memorial Consultant will be available to explain all of the options for families that want a focal point for their grief or to remember their loved one including new innovations such as having ashes made into jewellery and the traditional Book of Remembrance with entries by a professional calligrapher.”

“A selection of refreshments, including tea and coffee will also be provided. We look forward to welcoming members of our local community.”

Weston Crematorium is operated by The Crematorium and Memorial Group, part of Dignity Plc, on behalf of North Somerset Council.

The Group operates 44 other crematoria and 27 cemeteries across England and Scotland and is involved in approximately 75,000 cremations and burials on annual basis.

The open day will take place on Saturday, September 21 between 10am and 2pm
