England cerebral palsy international Harry Baker will be in Weston-super-Mare next month as he attends Weston Ability FC’s team celebration night as the event’s guest speaker.

Pan disability football team Weston Ability FC are hosting an evening at the start of October to celebrate their success in recent yeas which has led to their squads being involved in the Somerset FA League for the first time ever.

After being founded in 2009 the club, who changed their name to Weston Ability in 2016, initially set out to provide a space for local teenagers who struggled to fit in with other sports teams due to their disabilities.

Since then the club has gone on to run two adult sides, two U16s teams, and a brand new U12s teams as well as currently working on the start of an all-women’s side.

The adult side entered the Somerset League in 2011 and have gone on to win the Premiership and the Championship three times.

All this development has led to the club being awarded Disability Club of the Year in 2022 and 2023 whilst also securing an affiliation with National Conference League South side Weston-super-Mare AFC.

The partnership with the semi-pro outfit has also allowed Weston Ability to host their celebratory evening in the depths of The Optima Stadium, which is open to all who may want to attend.

Guest speaker Harry Baker has played for the England Cerebral Palsy set up from the age of 15 and since then has competed in seven major tournaments with the senior side including three World Cups and two European Championships.
