Which double glazing windows are best?

There are many different styles of bespoke window styles available in a range of colours and finishes to suit every home, whatever its character.

PVC-u windows are built to last, giving long-life protection against the elements, low-maintenance performance and outstanding energy efficiency.

Choose from classic casement styles or double opening French casement with no central bar down the middle, providing an effective means of fire escape.

Traditional bay or bow-style windows can make a small room look larger, while tilt and turn windows offer great versatility and ventilation. Vertical sliding box sash windows offer Georgian elegance, as well as safety and security.

How secure are PVC-u windows?

Most PCV-u windows are fitted with high-security locking mechanisms. Go for frames that are internally beaded, which means the glazing units cannot be removed from the outside. Shoot bolts, locking handles, heavy-duty security hinges and hinge guards will also keep intruders at bay.

Why go for a conservatory?

A conservatory is a great way to extend your living space without going too crazy with bricks and mortar. It can add significant value to a property and is likely to catch the eye of potential buyers who would rather pay more for a house with a conservatory than take on the project themselves.

A conservatory is usually a cheaper, quicker and more convenient alternative to an extension. They can be added to a kitchen, living or dining room to let natural light flood into your home and open up a great living space to relax, unwind or entertain.

Can a conservatory be used all year round?

The British weather can throw all sorts at us but a bespoke conservatory offers a room for all seasons come rain or shine. In the summer, they let the garden in, while in the winter, they can provide a cosy retreat for all the family.

In warmer months, roof glazing treated with a layer of reflective glass will let in plenty of natural light but reduce excess heat, solar glare and harmful UV rays.

Look for glass with self-cleaning properties and also consider under-floor heating to keep your conservatory nice and cosy during the winter months.

Do you need planning permission for conservatory?

Eight out of 10 times, you will not need planning permission but this will vary from district to district, even in Bristol and North Somerset. On some new developments –including in Weston-super-Mare – there are often covenants included that restrict extensions over a certain size. But an experienced firm will remove the hassle and take you through the planning process.

How long does it take to build a conservatory?

From start to finish, a conservatory usually takes around three-four weeks to build – much quicker than an extension. They can be built all year round, although wet or cold weather could delay construction.
