WESTON residents were out in force collecting for the town's RNLI on the weekend.
Collecting outside The Grand Pier, members of Weston Rotary Club spent the two days fundraising for a new lifeboat station.
The RNLI was first established in Weston in 1882 and moved onto Birnbeck Pier in 1902.
In 2013, health and safety reasons meant the volunteer group was forced to move out and establish a temporary lifeboat station at Knightstone.
It is hoped the RNLI will move back onto the island when North Somerset Council purchases the pier.
A spokesperson said: "We were very happy to do our bit by collecting funds in aid of a new lifeboat station for Weston.
"Even during the Covid pandemic, Weston's RNLI remained on duty despite being without a permanent home.
"Last year Weston's RNLI station was once again the busiest on the English side of the Severn Estuary.
"Despite financial hardships, locals and visitors alike were digging deep to ensure that this voluntary service can be maintained and continue to save lives at sea 24 hours a day throughout the year.
