ESSENTIAL maintenance works will close the M5 between Weston-super-Mare and Burnham-on-Sea for one night at the end of the month.
National Highways will carry out the project from 9pm on Monday, October 31 and 5am on Tuesday, November 1.
The work will take place in both the northbound and southbound carriageways, causing a full overnight closure.
An announcement on the Burnham & Highbridge Town Council website said: “National Highways operates, maintains and improves England’s motorways and major A-roads.
“They will shortly be carrying out essential maintenance works on the M5 between junction 21 (St Georges interchange) and junction 22 (Edithmead interchange).
“To minimise disruption, they’ll work on a weeknight when there are fewer vehicles on the road. During the day they will keep the road open as usual.
“They’ll make every effort to ensure the impact on the local community and travelling public is kept to a minimum.
“They always aim to work to the programme, however unforeseen circumstances or adverse weather conditions may mean changes.”
