ROTARIANS were treated to a guest speaker at a special lunch event last week.
Former solicitor turned local crime writer, Damien Boyd, spoke to the Weston Rotary Club on Friday, October 14.
Mr Boyd authored his first book in 2013 and set the story in Cheddar Gorge. All his books follow a police detective inspector, Nick Dixon.
Many club members told the author they enjoy reading his thrillers which are also set around the Burnham area.
A spokesperson said: "It was a fascinating insight into the way he has developed his characters through his series of 12 books.
"The most recent book, Carnival Blues, is set in Bridgwater and revolves around a crime set at the time of the celebrated Winter Carnival held in the town.
"The fictitious detective inspector is based at Avon and Somerset Police and lives in Brent Knoll.
"It was a thrill to host him at Weston Golf Club - thank you."
