A SOMERSET village has scooped gold in a coveted regional gardening competition.
To help make Britain more greener and cleaner, a prize draw for the annual South West in Bloom event saw Bleadon bag gold.
The top prize is only awarded to entrants meeting the highest standards in horticulture, care for the environment and community participation.
It was presented to the Bleadon in Bloom group that has worked hard to create a community allotment and polytunnel, with this year's theme being the Platinum Jubilee.
Work to scoop the top gong has taken three years of dedicated commitment, the group said.
Bleadon was also awarded as overall winner in the village cateogory where residents took home the Mary Mortimer Trophy.
The Queen's Arms pub also secured a gold award for the second year running for outstanding flower displays.
Judging took place in July at Haselbury Mill, in Crewkerne.
