A SCOUT group can move closer to restoring its historic hut after it received a cash boost from a housing developer.
3rd Weston Scouts has used its headquarters in Totterdown Road since 1932 but it's in desperate need of restoration.
Now Bellway Homes, a housing developer, has donated £500 to help refurbish The Gilcraft Den's windows.
It is estimated around £100,000 is needed to completely revamp the more than 90-year-old building.
Nigel Neads, Scout leader, said: “Trying to generate support for our project over the last few years has been very difficult due to many companies turning their focus to helping to support efforts related to the pandemic.
"Now that things are returning to normal, we are grateful to be receiving support from the community and from Bellway in particular, which helps us to move one step closer to having a watertight premises once again.
“This donation will make a huge difference and will mean that we are able to repair windows on the building, alongside the repair of all external cladding."
Donationations can be made to www.givey.com/thegilcraftden to help repair the hut.
