A POPULAR martial arts club is looking for more members as it expands into a new premises.
Rising Tide Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is an academy for people of all ages and abilities that uses self-defense techniques and is tailored for recreational enthusiasts or competitive players.
The club was set up in 1999 and is run by Ian Rossiter, Martin Eyre, Chris Howard and Paddy Webber. They are all highly qualified and trained in the art, with Ian and Martin both holding a black belt among other accolades.
Classes are held daily at the former Flex.FA Fitness Academy, in Coker Road, and are available to people from the age of 7 and up.
"There's no need to feel intimidated by your level of ability here," third degree black belt instructor Ian, said.
"Come down to one of our classes and have a try, there's no pressure to join but I'm sure once you get going you'll love the art and you'll feel better for it.
"We're open to men and women and are especially keen to see more young people take up this brilliant opportunity."
Mr Rossiter added: "Brazilian jiu-jitsu has been proven to be one of the most effective combat systems in the world during a one-on-one situation and all of our instructors are extremely qualified to give you a sound grounding in the practice, as shown by the many members who've gone on to fight and win in national and international competitions."
Membership is free to all new students for the first two weeks and then after is priced at £50 a month or £35 a month for children and students.

Also using the venue is Weston Judo Club, which started in the 1970s and continues to be led by some of its early founding members. It's looking for new members too.
Although a similar martial art, judo focuses more on standing techniques whereas jiu-jitsu is heavily weighted on ground techniques.
The club is also paired with Police Sport UK (PSUK) which offers staff the opportunity to participate in the game at national competitions.
Head coach, Rich Stevens, said: "Previously at Hans Price Academy, we're now training at this lovely new venue too, and we cater for all ages, genders and abilities.
"Please come down to one of our hourly sessions held every Tuesday evening from 6.30pm onwards for juniors and 7.30pm for seniors.
"Adults are welcome at no charge."
