A NEW on-call recruit for Avon Fire & Rescue Service (AF&RS) celebrated his graduation on Wednesday, December 21, following completion of the training course at Severn Park.
Alongside new recruits from Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service (GF&RS), Jordan Spear, who has joined Chew Magna Station, has now completed the rigorous training programme.
Jordan, who was presented his completion certification, was also awarded the coveted silver axe which is only given to one recruit per training school.
Jordan Spear, who works as a firefighter at Bristol Airport, said: “I’ve always wanted to explore a career within local authority where I could learn skills and hopefully transfer some of mine across.
“It’s also an exciting opportunity to help my local community, and to be something I can be really proud of.”
Area Manager Luke Gazzard, head of operational response at AF&RS, said: “Congratulations to our new on-call firefighter, Jordan Spear, who officially graduated the training course today and in addition, takes home the silver axe.
"I wish him the best of luck as he responds to incidents and helps his community in Chew Magna.”
