IF you are a history fan in the Weston area, today is your lucky day. A reprinted version of Somerset, A Troubled History has recently been released and is on sale at Weston-super-Mare museum.
The novel, written by Allen Bunyan, details the main events in the region from 1600 - 1699, focusing specifically on the darker aspects of history that many of us may not know about.
It includes chapters on the Great Flood of 1607, the Civil War, law and order, and even the lesser-known Somerset Witch Trials.
It also details the life and crimes of Peter Easton, which Allen calls 'the most famous pirate you've never heard of.' Easton rose to become one of the most notorious pirates of his day and was feared by many, including entire governments.
For those wanting to read the book, copies are on sale at the museum or can be ordered online.
