The popular 'historical weekend' returns to The Helicopter Museum in Weston-Super-Mare this April.
Taking place on Saturday April 1 and Sunday, April 2, the event will see the land surrounding Weston Airfield's restored WW2 era Control Tower and Pilots Block brought to life by re-enactors, living history camps and historic military vehicles. Organised with the Weston-Super-Mare branch of The Royal British Legion.
The event will feature a classical concert of 1940’s music and famous war movie anthems performed by a live 35 piece orchestra, followed by a Remembrance Service and Veterans Parade on the Saturday afternoon.
Jessica Porter from the Helicopter Museum said: “One of the most important aspects of this event for us is to work closely with local military charities and raise as much awareness and support for their causes as possible.
“We have so much taking place this year including 1940’s Wartime singers performing in the Museum, Tank driving and live firing demonstrations, a rifle range and there is even the chance to meet Dougie, the British Legion’s Donkey Mascot !! All that plus the Living History Encampment to explore.”
The Helicopter Museum (Registered Charity no 281053) is home to the largest collection of helicopters in the world. The military history Weekend is the charity's main fund-raising event of the year.
