MONEY has been stolen from a charity collection box located outside the RNLI lifeboat station in Weston-super-Mare.
Volunteers say the money box was broken open yesterday night (Thursday, June 1). The incident has been reported to Avon and Somerset Police.
An RNLI spokesperson said: "We were disappointed to discover last night that someone had broken open and stolen cash from our charity collection box located outside the station.
"The RNLI rely exclusively on public donations, so every penny really does matter.
"If you saw anyone acting suspiciously around the station by Knightstone Island between 6pm and 10pm last night, please call 101 and ask to update crime ref 5223128705."
A police spokesperson said: "I can confirm this has been reported to us, CCTV enquiries will be carried out and we’d also ask anyone with information to contact us as per details the RNLI has published."
