STUDENTS from Kings Sixth in Cheddar have celebrated 'a superb set' of A level and level 3 results.
Pupils picked up their results on Thursday, August 17.
Around a quarter of all grades were A* or A, and nearly half were A*, A, B or equivalent.
Some notable individual achievements included:
- Lewis Conroy and Oscar Pearce, who both achieved two A* grades and two A grades and will study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Edinburgh and Mathematics at the University of Durham respectively.
- Nic Jones, who achieved two distinction stars and two A grades, continuing with his studies in Visual Effect Production Technology at Nottingham Trent University.
- Melissa Neill, who achieved two A* grades and one A grade, continuing her studies in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Sheffield.
- Teagan Waymouth, who achieved one A* grade, one A grade and one distinction star.
Students who achieved a grade A or above in every subject included Harriet Griffiths, Morgan Harris, Laurence Hollyfield, Sajda Idris, Kate Naden and Aidan Scoulding.
Students who made exceptional progress since their GCSE studies included Jaime Beer, Antonia Buxton, Kate Naden, Oscar Pearce and Sergio Wadey.
The progress made by these students is higher than the national average compared to pupils with the same prior attainment.
Headteacher, David Wiltshire, said: “Our Sixth Form have achieved a superb set of results which are testament to their effort and commitment.
"Students have developed independence whilst continually supporting each other. This vast majority of this year group have never taken an external examination, making their incredible achievements even more impressive.
"They have been amazing ambassadors for the Academy as well as the wider community.
"I am certain each of them will build upon their successes and be highly successful as they pursue their chosen pathway. We wish everyone the best of luck. Congratulations!”
If you didn't get the grades you needed, don't worry.
Dr Nick Smith, course director and founder of The Oxford Open Learning Trust, has shared some words of wisdom on what to do next.
Speaking on results day, he said: "Many institutions will still be accepting students, so have a look on the UCAS website or give them a quick call to check if your course is on offer elsewhere."
