STUDENTS at Hans Price Academy (HPA) are celebrating after receiving their hard-earned GCSE results, a true testament to their "great resilience."
Adrian Esch, head of School at Hans Price Academy, said: “Our students and staff have been exceptional over the past two years and the results are testament to their hard work and dedication throughout their time at HPA.
"During the challenging moments of preparing for their GCSEs, our students showed great resilience and continued to be excellent role models for our school community.
"2019 was the first time in our history that over 60% of our students met the government threshold for GCSE qualifications including English and Maths.
"I am delighted that we continue to sustain and improve these outcomes year on year, despite the challenges our students have had to navigate due to the impact of the pandemic.
"Students have taken full advantage of the additional sessions before and after school, as well as during the holidays.
"I am truly grateful for the commitment and tenacity of our staff, as well as the support of our families who have worked alongside us for 5 years to ensure that their child is ready to learn and able to be fulfil their potential.
"We are immensely proud of our students and wish them every success for the future.”
Their success is even more impressive given that exams regulator Ofqual previously said that a return to pre-pandemic grading would mean that this year’s national GCSE results in England would be lower than last year and similar to levels in 2019 – the year before coronavirus.
Hans Price Academy is part of the Cabot Learning Federation (CLF).
Another local CLF academy, Winterstoke Hundred Academy, does not yet have year 11 students.
A spokesperson from the CLF said: "As a growing school, Winterstoke Hundred Academy does not yet have year 11 students and we are eagerly awaiting our first full set of GCSE results in 2025.
"We are pleased to share that alumnus from Broadoak, Hans Price, Worle and Priory have benefitted from our maths and English GSCE resit programme this year as part of our sixth form provision.
"Students who previously had grade 3s now have grade 4s and 5s that will greatly enhance their career prospects."
