BLEADON residents have been advised to allow extra time for travel as two months of road closures will begin next month.
West & Wales Utilities will close two roads from September to November in order to facilitate "essential" gas pipe upgrades.
The work is said to be crucial in order to keep gas flowing safely to heat local homes and businesses.
There will be a road closure on Roman Road from September 11-29, and another closure on Celtic Way from October 2 until November 10.
These dates are only to be met by West & Wales Utilites if they do not run into any engineering difficulties.
The company liaised with North Somerset Council to plan the work and it has been agreed that traffic management will be in place.
Simon Lee, who is overseeing this work by West & Wales Utilities, said:
“While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across Bleadon.
"Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.
“We know that working in areas like this is not ideal, but it really is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future.
"We’ll have a team of gas engineers on site throughout the project to make sure our work is completed as safely and as quickly as possible while keeping disruption to a minimum."
West & Wales Utilities' customer service team are open to questions about their work, you can contact them on freephone 0800 912 2999, or get in touch via Twitter or Facebook.
