A WESTON motorist has avoided a driving ban for speeding due to the impact it would have had on the community.
North Somerset Magistrates' Court heard that Clare Perkins, 41, of Blagdon Close, was caught travelling at 75mph on a 60mph stretch of the M5 southbound between Junctions 16 and 17 on March 4 this year.
She pleaded guilty to the offence, which earned her a £153 fine, along with a £61 victim surcharge and £95 costs.
Her driving licence was endorsed with three penalty points.
But magistrates decided not to ban her from the road after hearing it would have a negative "effect on the community and the people she looks after".
A second charge of failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence was withdrawn by the court.
