EMERGENCY repairs on the M5 in North Somerset could cause some delays this evening (Monday, November 20).
National Highways is advising those planning on travelling around the Almondsbury Interchange near Bristol to allow extra time for their journeys.
This is due to emergency repairs which are set to be carried out at junction 15.
Earlier today, a HGV ruptured a fuel tank and spilt 150 litres of diesel across the carriageway on the feeder road from junction 16 to the M5 northbound.
The carriageway of the feeder road now needs emergency resurfacing. This will take place from 6.30pm.
While the road is closed, the M5 will be closed from junction 17. Traffic wishing to join the M5 northbound is being diverted via M4 Junction 22.
Drivers can also use the M49 at junction 18A for westbound M4 journeys and rejoin the M5 northbound from M4 Junction 22.
From the junction 17 closure, traffic will be diverted via the A38.
