A WESTON company has been hit with a massive court bill for breaching health and safety laws.
New West Gypsum Recycling (UK) Ltd pleaded guilty to the offence at a hearing at Taunton Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (November 28).
The firm, based at The Flight Shed, The Taxiway, committed the offence on or before November 11, 2021.
The charge stated that the employer failed to ensure, so far as was reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of all your employees.
The workers included, but were not limited to, Joshua Greenwood, in that New West Gypsum Recycling failed to ensure safe systems of work in relation to the operation of the main in-feed hopper and in-feed conveyor including the clearing of blockages.
The company was fined £24,000 and was ordered to a victim surcharge of £190 and costs of £4,600.79.
The total court bill of £28,790.79 must be paid by December 29.
New West Gypsum Recycling accepts waste gypsum wallboard and gypsum drywall for recycling into new gypsum products.
