THE mayor of Weston, Cllr Ciaran Cronnelly, has wished King Charles III "well on his recovery" following His Majesty's cancer diagnosis.
Buckingham Palace has said that the King has been advised to avoid public-facing duties for the time being.
He will continue to carry out paperwork and state business during this time.
The King has chosen to share his diagnosis to raise awareness of cancer and the importance of getting checked, as well as to avoid speculation.
Weston's mayor has stressed the need to get checked if you have symptoms.
Posting on Facebook, Cllr Cronnelly said: "I'm sorry to read about the King's cancer diagnosis and wish him well on his recovery.
"Cancer doesn't care who you are or what you do - so always speak to a GP as soon as possible if you think you have any of the symptoms of cancer. Don't put off getting checked."
