BURNHAM'S Coastguard Rescue team launched last week following reports of three people stuck in the mud alongside Burnham Pier.
The team received a call just after 1pm on Tuesday, February 20.
The group of walkers had ventured into the mud, which "isn't always visible."
Two members managed to turn around and get back to safety, however a younger member was worried that if they moved they would become even more stuck.
Luckily, the walker was eventually encouraged to make their own way out without any intervention.
A Burnham Coastguard Rescue team spokesperson said: "Called to reports of three people stuck in the mud alongside Burnham Pier.
"There is a large patch of soft mud around that area and it's not always fully visible.
"You can take a step in the wrong direction and break through the top crusty layer into the softer mud which will grip your foot.
"If you're visiting for the day or don't really know the beach very well it can be easy to wander into.
"On this occasion three people who were walking wandered into the soft sand and mud.
"Two managed to turn around quickly and back onto hard standing but the younger member was worried if they moved any further they would become more stuck.
"As it was a mud rescue our friends from BARB Search & Rescue - Burnham-on-Sea hovercraft were also tasked and they readied their Hovercraft on the beach in case it was needed.
"Thankfully after a bit of reassurance from the other two, the third person was confident enough to make their own way out without any intervention.
"While the mud they wandered into wasn't deep, it can take a really firm grip on your feet, this can cause panic and distress.
"Staying still and spreading your weight if possible is always a good idea and the person did the right thing.
"A good call from the first informant, your eyes and ears help us keep the beach safe.
"As always, if you see anyone in danger or difficulty along the coast, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
