A MAN has been charged with knife and drug possession offences after police officers stopped a vehicle in Weston yesterday (Monday, March 4).
Raymond Staples, 44, of Rydal Road, was arrested off Winterstoke Road in the early hours of yesterday morning.
A member of the public had contacted police to raise their concerns.
Another man, aged 20, was also arrested at the scene, but has since been released with no further action.
Staples was charged with possession of a knife in a public place, plus possession of cocaine and cannabis.
A police spokesperson said: "Raymond Staples, of Rydal Road, was arrested by police in the early hours of yesterday morning (Monday, March 4), off Winterstoke Road, after a member of the public called us to raise concerns.
"The 44-year-old has since been charged with possession of a knife in a public place, plus possession of class A (cocaine) and class B (cannabis) drugs. He was remanded to appear at North Somerset Courthouse today (Tuesday, March 5)."
