A group of students from Broadoak Academy visited Hinkley Point C.
14 year nine students were guided around the construction site and visitor centre.
They confronted the urgent need for low-carbon energy and learned how EDF's initiatives, including Hinkley Point C and renewable sources like wind and solar, are propelling Britain towards net-zero emissions.
The pupils undertook a virtual tour showcasing the construction site from a unique perspective, featuring awe-striking drone footage of ‘Big Carl’, the world’s largest crane.
This was followed by a sealed tour of the site with live project actions.
Georgia Wilde, Broadoak’s careers and aspirations co-ordinator, said: "This experience has been eye-opening for our students.
"Not only did they learn about the importance of sustainable energy, but they also witnessed first-hand the monumental efforts involved in projects like Hinkley Point C and got to learn about the vast amount of career paths available to them within the world of engineering, and their wonderful apprenticeship schemes."
"It's inspiring to see young minds engaged and empowered with knowledge about shaping a greener future."
