International smash hit musical Blood Brothers is coming to Weston-super-Mare.
Bill Kenwright’s legendary multi-award winning production will grace The Playhouse stage in 2024.
The well-known musical, with a history of sold-out performances nationwide, last visited the town in 2018.
Stepping into the iconic roles of Mrs Johnstone and Mickey Johnstone are Niki Colwell Evans and Sean Jones.
Gemma Brodrick resumes her role as Linda, with Joe Sleight portraying Eddie.
The remaining 2024 production cast includes Timothy Lucas, Josh Capper, Sarah Jane Buckley, Tim Churchill, Jess Smith, Graeme Kinniburgh, Chloe Pole, and Alex Harland.
Additional casting details are still to be released.
The tale of Liverpudlian life, penned by award-winning playwright Willy Russell, originated as a school play in 1981 before transitioning to the Liverpool Playhouse in 1983.
The musical has since made its mark internationally, with sell-out seasons in the US, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Japan.
Few musicals have attained the high praise matched by Blood Brothers, which scooped Best Musical awards in London and received seven Tony Award nominations on Broadway.
In London's West End, Mr Kenwright’s production reached a milestone of over 10,000 performances, a feat achieved by only three musicals.
Blood Brothers narrates the poignant story of twins separated at birth.
Despite being raised in distinctly different environments, their paths ultimately converge with a tragic result.
The stunning score involves tunes such as Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe, and the emotionally charged hit, Tell Me It's Not True.
Theatre general manager, Mark Thompson said: "Following 2023's record-breaking pantomime, The Playhouse is delighted to once again be bringing the best of the West End to Weston.
"Our first West End Musical transfer since the pandemic could only be the one choice... Blood Brothers.
"If you managed to get tickets the last time the show was with us, you'll remember the Playhouse's intimacy made the perfect environment for one of the world's most loved productions.
"Tickets are sure to be in demand so act quickly to avoid disappointment."
Tickets for Blood Brothers officially went on sale at 10am on Friday, March 8, through The Playhouse website and the theatre box office.
Limited discounted tickets are also available for schools, and school professionals are encouraged to inquire at the box office.
