PLANS have been submitted to convert part of a ground floor of a restaurant into a two-bedroom residential flat in Weston.
The plans for Hussain's Indian Cuisine on 4 Orchard Street were validated on March 11.
The application's planning statement explains further: "The site comprises part of the ground floor of a restaurant, which is no longer financially viable, together with an outbuilding to the rear, currently used as storage for the restaurant. It is located on the East side of Orchard Street, in an area that is now a mixture of residential and commercial premises.
"The Proposal It is proposed to convert the front section of the ground floor into a two-bedroom flat. This will involve the removal of the shop front and, in its place, the construction of a masonry wall with windows and doors. All other alterations will be the construction of internal partitions. Design and Access The proposal will only affect the front elevation.
"The glass shopfront will be replaced with solid construction suitable for a residential property. This will be finished with render. There will be two vertical sliding sash windows that are located to be symmetrically placed about the centreline of the first floor window.
"A new residential front door will be installed. Access to the property will be directly from Orchard Street, together with the alley leading to Back Lane where It is intended to use the existing store as a refuse store and secure bicycle store."
A spokesperson for the restaurant said: "We are committed to our community and our long-term presence. While exploring future possibilities, including potential renovations and the addition of flats upstairs, we assure you that our doors will remain open for the foreseeable future.
"Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we embark on this exciting journey together. Stay tuned for updates on our renovations and upcoming offerings!"
