A WOMAN from Weston-super-Mare recently had her wishes made a reality for her 100th birthday.
Di, a resident at Acer House Care Home, was treated to a trip to Kenn Pier Stables with her loved ones to celebrate her centennial birthday.
Di grew up on a farm and has always been fond of horses - her only birthday wish was to spend the day with them, and the team at Acer House helped to make her wish come true.
Later in the day, the culinary team at the care home prepared a spread of homemade cakes accompanied by a cup of tea.
Di was flooded with birthday cards from friends and family members, and also received a special card from King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla, which took pride of place.
Reflecting on the day, Di said: “I am so lucky to have lived to 100 and had very good health.
"Going to the stables was a wonderful surprise and very interesting as I’ve always loved horses.
"I was born and raised on a farm, and being back on farmland was extra special for me to mark my birthday.
"It was a further surprise to discover that one of my cousins owned the stables visited!
"I feel overjoyed and happy even days after the occasion.
"From the bottom of my heart, I am very thankful for everyone and for having such lovely people surround me.”
