IT'S been a long time since I've tried tapas, so when I saw that Weston's Brunello Lounge do a three-dish tapas deal, I just had to do a taste test (for research purposes only, of course).
Located on Beach Road, the restaurant boasts a four star rating on Tripadvisor.
I had a quick browse before I went to see if the tapas was worth going for, and one customer's review had me sold.
They said: "The best tapas I've had at any of their outlets and I've tried a few.
"I like the atmosphere of this one, location is great overlooking the pier and sea."
Another claimed that the tapas was "exceptionally good."
With that being said, I headed over to try it for myself.
The restaurant
The restaurant itself is situated in a prime spot overlooking Weston's iconic seafront. The red and yellow paint on the outside of the business instantly draws the eye and makes it stand out from its neighbours.
I can imagine that it's popular with residents and tourists alike who may be having a stroll along the seafront and stop to pop in for some lunch or a cheeky midday cocktail.
On walking in, it was clearly very busy, a good sign that the business is doing something right.
The inside of the restaurant is quirky, a trait that many Lounge branches share.
There are portrait-style pictures decorating the walls (who they are of, I wouldn't be able to tell you), as well as an array of mirrors and other prints.
The restaurant has quite low lighting. It was a dim day outside, so the restaurant seemed quite dark when I first walked in.
Even so, I feel like this does add a bit of an atmosphere to the place, which would be heightened even further at night.
Another thing I noticed was that the music was quite loud. Although I didn't mind this in the slightest, if you are hard of hearing or are going out in a big group, it could make it difficult to hear what's being said.
Ordering at Brunello Lounge can be done up at the bar or via a QR code at your table. Seeing the queue already forming to order in-person, I opted for the code.
The food
I went for the three-dish tapas deal, which cost a grand total of £13.25. I also got a latte to drink.
For food, I chose the Korean King Prawns, with ssamjang, lime and sesame seeds, as well as the Garlic and Parmesan Fried Chicken Wings and the Black Bean and Sweetcorn Salsa Quesadilla, which came with a spicy tomato dipping sauce.
My favourite dish by far was the wings, partly because I love garlic. The wings themselves were crispy and hot and weren't too messy.
The Quesadilla was also delicious, although I'm not sure I would have the Korean King Prawns again. Although they were flavourful, they seemed a bit lacklustre compared to some of the other tapas options.
If chicken, prawns or quesadillas aren't your thing, you can also try the Bang Bang Fried Cauliflower, the Honey Whipped Feta, or the Mini Pulled Brisket Chilli, to name just a few of the other options.
I would absolutely go back to Brunello Lounge, although next time I might go for something different.
The restaurant also serves everything from brunches, burgers, flatbreads, and salads.
