IN 2016, a Weston woman and her friends jumped out of a plane from 15,000ft in memory of her late son.
Jane Tucker said she was "terrified" as she plunged through the skies above Salisbury on April 3 of that year to raise money for the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at St Michael’s Hospital in Bristol.
Jane and her friends chose to fundraise for the unit in memory of her son Jack, who was supported by the unit in 2003 when he was born 26 weeks early.
Staff cared for him for 24 days while he was kept in an incubator, but was not well enough to survive.
Speaking further about the skydive in 2016, Jane said: “The jump was one of my worst fears. I was absolutely terrified and will never do it again.
“However during the jump it made me feel a lot closer to Jack, which has been something I’ve wanted to do since he died.
“The best thing is we raised £8,000 which is fantastic and will go a long way towards a new incubator at SCBU.
“I was so grateful to the team at SCBU for all they did for Jack and want to pay back the fantastic care and attention given so that other babies will be given hope of a long and fulfilling life."
