A home care service in Weston-super-Mare will host a free dementia workshop next month.
Home Instead Weston-super-Mare is running sessions to help people who were recently diagnosed in time for Dementia Action Week on May 14.
The community-focused event is scheduled to take place between 3pm and 5pm at the Home Instead office on Worle High Street.
Jenny Morton, registered manager of Home Instead Weston-super-Mare, said: “Some people have difficulty receiving a dementia diagnosis, for a number of reasons.
"Perhaps it is assumed that the person is simply showing signs of old age, rather than dementia.
"And maybe their loved one doesn’t think they have developed the condition. Getting information and support early on is important, and that’s why we’ve organised this workshop for our community to mark Dementia Action Week.
"Getting information and support at an early stage stands you in great stead to face the challenges of dementia together.”
