A PLANNING application has been submitted to convert a ground floor supermarket into two residential units in Hewish.
The planning application for Bristol Road's unused Flavour Restaurant and Supermarket was validated by the council on Wednesday, April 17.
The site has been unused for over a year.
The application's planning statement, written by Gibson Architecture, reads: "This proposal is for Flavour, Bristol Road, which is a currently unused Class E unit, and has been un-used for over a year.
"The site was used as a restaurant and supermarket for several years prior to becoming redundant.
"The proposal seeks to convert the ground floor commercial unit into one no two-bedroom and one no three-bedroom residential unit due to its commercial viability becoming obsolete.
"This site currently consists of a retail unit/restaurant to the ground floor with residential accommodation to the first and second floors. There is also an attached garage, currently used for storage as the garage is not an adequate size for vehicular use.
"This site is in an awkward position to operate as a restaurant, pub, or supermarket. The previous tenants were unable to make a success of this business."
