The co-leading partner of the Donate For Defib Weston-super-Mare Project participated in this year's TCS London Marathon.
On Sunday, 21st April 2024, Tom Farrand ran the entire 26.2-mile course from Greenwich to the Mall.
He finished the marathon in four hours 49 minutes and 13 seconds.
Previously, Mr Farrand had completed the Weston Half Marathon to prepare for this event.
Blessed with favourable weather on marathon day, he was focused on traversing the long course.
Though the Donate For Defib project team could not attend the marathon due to other fundraising commitments, they had secretly arranged a support team for Mr Farrand.
Unaware of the support team’s presence due to his immersion in the marathon, he ran fast, oblivious to the cheers and banners for him.
The project team kept track of Mr Farrand's progress throughout the marathon via the London Marathon app.
Once he completed the race, they phoned him to ensure his well-being and congratulate him.
A spokesperson for Donate For Defib said: "The whole project team are all so proud of Tom for taking part and completing this gruelling challenge to raise further funds for publicly accessible defibrillators in the community.
"Tom, you are a star well done!"
