THE Mayor of Weston, Cllr Ciaran Cronnelly, has helped the Royal Air Forces Association celebrate its 85th anniversary.
Cllr Cronnelly said: "Lovely evening at the The Royal Hotel Weston-super-Mare celebrating the 85th anniversary of Royal Air Forces Association, Weston-super-Mare I've met RAFA Weston and their members many times throughout my term as mayor - they do a huge amount in and for the community and give brilliant support to our veterans, service personnel and the wider RAFA family.
"Congratulations on your 85th anniversary. Also I learned that they have raised over £350k since 1993 for the Wings Appeal - an incredible amount!"
The Royal Air Forces Association's website reads: "Our aim is to continue the special comradeship known to serving and ex-serving RAF personnel and their families by providing a vehicle for social activities, and we are also dedicated to joining with other organisations, such as the ATC, SSAFA and the Royal British Legion, in assisting the Royal Air Force Family in the area with welfare matters whenever we can."
