THE Food Hub has been selected to be the new operator for one of Weston's "best-loved concessions."
The Food Hub, which currently operates the Bay Café, will be running, investing in and improving Clarence Park Café. It is thought that the venue will be open to the public in time for the summer season.
On top of this, the hub has also been selected as the operator for the Victorian Café on the seafront.
Councillor Mike Solomon, North Somerset Council’s executive member for culture and leisure who is responsible for seafronts, parks and concessions, said: “Clarence Park Café is one of the community’s best-loved concessions in Weston-super-Mare, and there was fierce competition for this lease.
"Following a thorough selection process, I’m delighted to confirm that The Food Hub has been chosen to run Clarence Park Café.
“This news comes hot on the heels of the announcement that The Food Hub have also been selected to operate the Victorian Café, on Weston’s seafront.
"During their time running the Bay Café at the Tropicana, The Food Hub have proven themselves to be a fantastic operator, and have grown a loyal customer base.”
Laurence Pratt, owner of The Food Hub, added: "We are delighted to have been awarded the lease for both The Clarence and The Victorian. During our time running the Bay Café at the Tropicana, we have gained a reputation for excellent customer care and outstanding food and look forward to continuing this at our two new establishments.
"We're looking forward to welcoming familiar faces and new customers to experience our culinary delights.
“We will continue as operators of the Bay Café at the Tropicana until it temporarily closes in early September, due to investment in the Tropicana from the Levelling Up Fund.
"Our hope is to open The Clarence and The Victorian in time for the summer holidays.”
Councillor Mike Bell, leader of North Somerset Council and one of the local ward members, concluded: “Residents have been particularly keen for Clarence Park Café to reopen, so I’m sure the local community will be overjoyed to hear that it will be opening for business again soon.
"Alongside work we are doing to get Clarence Park looking its best for the summer, this is a boost for the area.”
