A WESTON smokehouse which offers everything from slow cooked meats to day aged steaks was awarded with the highest possible food hygiene score in its latest inspection.

Bare Grills, on Richmond Street, has achieved a five out of five food hygiene score, which means that it has been recognised for its effective food handling procedures and cleanliness.

As outlined on the Food Standards Agency's website, the restaurant received a high rating in all areas, including hygienic food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, and management of food safety.

Businesses that receive a low food hygiene score are encouraged to work with the council to improve their rating or face closure.

The business is well known not only for its regular menu, which includes dishes such as smoked pork ribs, but it is also known for its mammoth food challenge.

The Bare Grills website explains further: "The Bare Grills challenge is back.

"The rules are simple, you have 60 minutes to polish off everything in the plate (excluding bones), on your own, without help, and no cheating!

"If you succeed within the time limit, then it's completely free. If you fail, however, it's £60.

"To participate, all you need to do is book yourself a table and let us know in advance if you are planning to take on the challenge.

"Please note the challenge is not available to order as a sharing dish. If you want to share some tasty BBQ, we do have sharing options (such as the tower) available.

"The current record for completing the challenge is held by Leah Shutkever with an impressive time of just under 17 minutes."
