THE Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare was crowned as the ninth most popular gaming arcade in the UK.
A study carried out by VSO, found that the pier recorded 12,100 monthly searches on Google.
Arcades are a well-loved nostalgic feature of the UK’s seaside towns – and now they’re popping up all across the country as a fun night out or daytime activity.
But where are the most popular gaming arcades located?
To find out, VSO has analysed a variety of metrics including Google reviews and search volumes, walking distance from public transport, average enjoyment score, and the average time spent in popular arcades around the UK.
Arcade Club in Leeds ranks as the most popular gaming arcade in the UK with the longest average time (3.50 hrs) spent in the arcade of all locations in the study and almost 10,000 monthly searches on Google.
Data shows that Manchester is home to two of the UK’s most popular gaming arcades, with 1UP Manchester taking eighth place.
Brighton, on the UK's south coast, ranks as the best seaside spot in the UK. It boasts the most restaurants (814), cafes (104), and activities (593) compared to other analysed resorts.
The city offers global cuisine, charming lanes, classic pier amusements – and the iconic Brighton Pier arcade, of course.
Swansea comes in second, boasting the highest-rated beach (County Hall Beach) with a perfect 5-star average review score.
This historic city offers a great foodie scene with 477 restaurants and 53 cafes, plus 298 activities including the Swansea Museum and Market.
Blackpool comes in third, and also ranks as the most affordable location with an Airbnb costing only £584.32 for one week.
