A PUPIL who uses a wheelchair at a school in Weston-super-Mare has been provided with an adapted bike so he could learn about cycling safety with the help of a national scheme.
Jacob, one of Mead Vale’s current Y5 pupils, received the adapted bike after a partnership between his school and the Strawberry Line Cycle Project charity in Yatton.
Thanks to the project, Jacob could join his friends in completing the Bikeability course.
Pupils at Mead Vale are learning practical skills and understanding how to cycle on today’s roads thanks to the Bikeability project.
Mead Vale has been part of the Bikeability scheme for many years offering Y4, Y5, and Y6 children the chance to learn the skills needed to keep them safe on the roads the Bikeability project gives everyone the confidence to cycle and enjoy this skill for life.
Bikeability congratulated the school on being the first school they have worked with who have sourced a bike such as this to ensure everybody could take part.
The school would like to thank Tony the expert cyclist and www.strawberrycycles.com/ for helping them remain a truly inclusive school.
