TWO long-standing members of staff at a Weston-super-Mare primary school have retired.
Mrs Hopkins and Mrs Parker, who have been at Mendip Green School for 30, and Mrs Parker who was part of the team for 25 have both retired this year.
Mrs Hopkins started as a parent helper and quickly joined as a paid staff member within the classroom.
Within her time, she has seen, supported, loved, and impacted over 3700 children, many of whom have grown up and had children and now their children have also had the Mrs Hopkins impact.
A message from the school said: “Mrs Hopkins, or Jaynie to her friends and colleagues, is definitely someone who cannot be replaced, she is someone who will be missed so much more than she realises, but the time has come for her to enjoy her grandchildren and make so many more memories.
“Mrs Parker, (seated with some of our year 6 and EYFS children) has been with us for over 25 years, she has supported children at lunchtimes with friendships, and social and emotional issues, and has been a listening ear to so many of our children.
“Mrs Parker has never been one to shy away from the odd game on the field or to cut up a lovely roast dinner.
“The children from EYFS right through to year 6 all adore her, as do her colleagues. Mrs Parker you will be missed.”
