MAJOR refurbishment of the Tropicana in Weston-super-Mare is due to begin at the end of summer, and one of the venue's last events before closing is sure to see it out with a bang.
The refurbishment utilises some of the £20m that North Somerset Council received from the government's Levelling Up Fund.
One of the final events set to occur prior to the venue closing for refurbishments will be a Summer Classics night, featuring DJ Olly along with saxophonist Lucy Harvey.
DJ Olly Eade said: "I’m excited to announce that we'll be performing at The Tropicana on August 23, 2024, for one of the final events before the venue closes for renovations.
"I’ll be DJing, just as I did in 2019 when I delivered an unforgettable Ibiza set.
"I'm eager to recreate that magic once again.
"With 24 years of DJ experience, my journey began unexpectedly when I was asked to DJ at a friend's 18th birthday party.
"What started as a hobby has evolved into a full-time career, leading a team of DJs and providing entertainment for weddings and events across the south west.
"Winning the Wedding DJ of the Year at The Wedding Industry Awards 2023 was a pinnacle achievement.
"Another career highlight was performing at the Broadmast Festival in 2017, where I played in front of 5,500 people during a silent disco - an experience I cherish deeply.
"The evening will feature the greatest Summer Anthems from the '90s, '00s, and today.
"I’ll be joined by local talent Lucy Harvey, an award-winning saxophonist and vocalist.
"I have worked with Lucy before and DJ and sax duos are very popular nowadays."
A spokesperson for the Tropicana said: "Turn up the heat and join us for the best party in town.
"Smart beach wear optional.
"Strictly over 18s."
The Summer Classics night will take place on August 23, with doors opening at 8pm, last entry at 10pm, and celebrations continuing until 1am.
