A four-figure cheque has been presented to a Weston cadet corps.

Worshipful Brother Harold Blackwell, master of Else Lodge of Mark Master Masons No. 102, handed over the £1,000 donation to Training Ship Weston Sea Cadet Corps (TS Weston).

The Sea Cadets is Mr Blackwell's selected charity for his time in office, with the funds gathered via raffles at the four annual Lodge meetings.

Upon his visit, he was greeted by the Sea Cadet Unit Band, toured its facilities and observed Cadet activities.

He also inspected a parade of Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets.

Mr Blackwell said: "I am proud to be able to present such a good amount to help the young people of our town as they start out on their life’s journey.

"Our organisations have a shared aim of recognising the good in people and helping them to excel in life."

The donation was received by the Unit Commanding Officer, Lt Barry Fear RNR.
