A HIGHLY decorated pub near Burnham has won Pub of the Year for the south west region.

The Crossways Inn pub in West Huntspill is the current Somerset CAMRA branch Pub of the Year and has now gone on to win first place in a South-West Regional Pub of the Year competition.

The respected regional title is for a region that stretches from the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire all the way down to the tip of Cornwall.

Located on the A38 on the idyllic Somerset levels, the 17th-century pub has nine real ales and a wide range of other drinks on offer including real cider.

CAMRA’s South-West Regional Director Peter Bridle said: “The Crossways Inn is a wonderfully run and welcoming community pub with fantastic customer service with superb drinks and food offering.

“As always, CAMRA branches in the region nominated some wonderful pubs and the level of entries in the competition was extremely high.

“The Crossways is very highly regarded by the Somerset CAMRA branch who have voted it ‘Pub of the Year’ on ten occasions over the last 12 years!”

The cosy Somerset pub has an outdoor drinking area and features 4 adjoining Bed & Breakfast accommodation.

Judges said the pub was “very friendly,” and the atmosphere, along with a great range of food and drinks at good value for money, made it the perfect choice for winning this award.

Working with some other local businesses to get produce for the pub, every Monday evening you have the chance to enjoy Maestro’s Pizza.

Maestro’s Pizza serve fresh pizzas to order which can be eaten in the pub along with a drink.

Landlord Steve Dean said: “I’m highly delighted by this award and I am dedicating it to my staff and family.

“Without them, none of this would be possible.”
