OFFICERS have thanked the public for being their “eyes and ears” after reports relating to immigration offences led to three arrests.
Avon and Somerset Police said the Worle beat team analysed intelligence reports linked to immigration offences in the area.
Today (Wednesday, August 21) they attended an “area of interest” with the immigration enforcement services.
A police spokesperson said: “Over the last few weeks officers from the Worle beat team have been analysing intelligence reports relating to immigration offences in the area.
“Today [Wednesday, August 21] officers attended the area of interest in company with our colleagues from the immigration enforcement services.
“The intelligence indicated that people at the location were being mistreated and living in sub-standard conditions.
“Whilst we were able to confirm that the persons were not living on site, we were able to identify three males were in the United Kingdom illegally.
“These three males were therefore arrested by immigration enforcement services and taken to Bridgwater Police custody for onward processing.
“The action today is not the end, thanks to your intelligence reports, we along with our partners in immigration and at the council will be conducting further checks and enquiries.
“We have said it before and will say it again, you are our eyes and ears, you are critical in giving us the information we need to target those that cause issues in the community.
“We thank you for all your help and support, and would ask you continue to make these reports.
