A 74-YEAR-OLD from Weston-super-Mare is getting ready for “the biggest thing” he has ever done as he plans to skydive from 15,000 feet to raise funds for a mental health charity.
Adrian Apps will join the challenge in Dunkeswell, Honiton, on September 26, to help the Talk Club, a group he joined three years ago.
Adrian, who suffers from anxiety and depression, said the charity helped him over the last few years and made him “feel at ease”.
He also said: “Myself, along with seven other people, are doing a skydive from 15,000 feet to raise funds for the Talk Club. It’s the biggest thing I’ve ever done.
“I have been there for nearly three years. I suffer with my mental health, mainly anxiety and depression.
“It’s to improve men’s mental health and encourage men to talk instead of bottling things up.
“A lot of men think we just have to man up, but we should talk more to other people, it definitely helps; it helped me over the last few years.
“Making the first move and go there is quite hard, but they are an amazing club, they made me feel at ease.
"It’s a safe and confidential place.”
Talk Club is a men’s mental health charity providing Talk & Listen, Talk & Exercise and Therapy Group sessions.
These groups are safe, confidential spaces for men to be open without judgment or shame.
