OPTIKA Opticians, an independent optician in Weston-Super-Mare, recently entered the Weston Hospicecare 10k moonlight beach walk.

The money raised will support palliative care for those with life-limiting illnesses in Weston-Super-Mare and North Somerset.

The family-run company has been managed for almost 20 years by husband-and-wife duo, Alison and James Harwood.

With over 30 years of professional optical experience, Alison and James have formed a practice oozing with clinical excellence and friendly connections to the local community of Weston-Super-Mare.

On September 14, the team at Optika Opticians, alongside hundreds of Weston Hospicecare supporters, will tackle the 10k moonlight beach walk.

Armed with sparklers and candle bags, the team will walk in remembrance and support of lost loved ones.

Similarly to Optika Opticians, Weston Hospicecare heavily invests into the community.

With care and expertise, they support patients with life limiting illnesses.

Their multi-disciplined team provide treatment not only for patients with cancer, but also for those with other life limiting diseases such as Parkinsons and Motor Neurone Disease.

Emphasising her support of the charity, Alison, said: “I’ve supported the charity for a couple of years now, including sponsoring their School Fundraising Pack, donating raffle prizes, and I’m excited to be involved in their Youth Fundraising initiative.

“I admire the work they do and that they continuously give back to our local community.

“Weston Hospicecare is a very worthy charity of our support, and there couldn’t be a cause better aligned with our personal beliefs as a local business.”

Both Optika Opticians and Weston Hospicecare know the importance of a sympathetic, friendly service in the face of health issues and the importance of giving back to their local community.

Furthermore, they both strive to deliver emotional support to every one of their patients, forming strong relationship with those in the local area.

With an additional family support team, the charity demonstrates their effort to provide positive social support to both patients and their families.

As an independent, family-run practice, Optika Opticians resonates the importance of supporting patients and their families that experience eye health concerns.
