A JAPANESE restaurant in Weston-super-Mare is celebrating an “unexpected” nomination for a “special award”.
Ebisu Japanese restaurant on 86 Regent Street has been shortlisted for the Asian Restaurants and Takeaways Awards (ARTA) for the Regional Restaurant of the Year Award category for the South West.
Mimi's Thai Bistro, also based in Weston, has been shortlisted for the award in the same category too.
A message from Ebisu restaurant read: “The Ebisu team is very delighted in being nominated for this special award. It was very unexpected.
“This is truly a team effort and could not have been done without every single staff’s effort.
“We are a Japanese restaurant delivering modern Japanese dishes to the community of weston and surrounding areas.
“We have been running for six years and continously growing.
“Very thankful for all the team’s effort and customers who continue to dine with us.
“We also want to thank you our customer who continue to place orders through our delivery services, thus including UberEats and the Ebisu app.
“Special thank you also to JDB Media for the social media management and campaigns on our social platforms.
“Follow us on social media for the latest updates.”
Nominees were chosen based on nominations by customers from across the UK, including over 900,000 customers of ARTA’s strategic partner ChefOnline, Social Media and Food Hygiene Ratings, followed by a final judgement of an esteemed judging panel to crown each region’s Asian excellence.
Speaking about the Asian Restaurant & Takeaway Awards 2024, Mohammed Munim, founder member and CEO of ARTA, said: “Asian restaurants and takeaways have made a significant contribution to the UK economy, both historically and in recent times.
“They deserve recognition and rewards for their efforts.
“These restaurants & takeaways have not only created thousands of jobs but have also boosted local economies through their presence, especially post Brexit.”
The final event will take place on Sunday, October 6, at London’s Royal Lancaster.
