The World Monologue Games is set to return for its eagerly awaited fifth season - with a Weston twist.

The global event, hailed as the "Olympics for actors," attracts top talent from over 100 countries.

Among the outstanding actors chosen for this year’s regional finals is Nanette Hern-Clarke, a gifted local performer from Weston-super-Mare.

She will be showcased alongside more than 250 other performers, where she will be judged by heads of international acting schools, Hollywood producers, and even Emmy-winning casting directors.

Ms Hern-Clarke said: "Being part of this year's World Monologue Games is incredibly exciting.

"I am joining an elite group of performers from across the world and I’m proud to be representing the UK.

"I can’t wait to share my work with the event’s audiences."

Founded in 2020 by leading Australian producer Pete Malicki, the World Monologue Games has grown stronger each season.

Mr Malicki said: "The quality of submissions has significantly improved since we launched the event at the beginning of the pandemic.

"I’m excited to see what this year’s competitors bring to the table after an incredibly strong qualifying round."

Ms Hern-Clarke will be presenting a compelling monologue about the fight for women’s equality during Elizabethan times.

She continued: "This is about my character, Emilia, trying to empower her friend so she regards herself as equal in her marriage, highlighting the gulf of inequality in society which still exists today."

The regional finals will be broadcast on YouTube from late September to mid-October 2024.
