WESTON Town Council have announced the arrival of The Whale, the first piece of innovative new play equipment coming to the Adventure Water Play Park, where refurbishment works are being carried out.
This addition marks a UK-first, offering a unique and inclusive play experience designed to ignite the imaginations of children of all abilities.
The Whale is a state-of-the-art motor skills trail, divided into three interactive play areas, each connected by walkways.
Children will be able to explore both inside and outside the structure, navigating a series of climbing walls, ladders, slides including a thrilling speed slide and more.
At the head of the whale, hammocks are suspended from nets, providing a peaceful rest area, while at the top of the structure, a rubber platform offers a birds-eye view of the entire play area.
This platform is accessible by a large climbing wall or wave ladder, making the adventure as dynamic as it is fun.
The body of the whale features the iconic "chimney net," a network of ropes that challenge young adventurers to climb up and down through the structure, while the tail offers hanging seats and a flexible rubber platform.
To add to the sea-themed fun, The Whale also includes two interactive play panels, designed to engage children with visual, auditory, and tactile elements, providing inclusive play opportunities for all abilities.
What sets The Whale apart is its commitment to inclusivity.
With special attention to children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), this multi-play unit integrates sensory-rich features that support a wide range of needs.
From stimulating tactile elements and soothing vibrations to the peaceful retreat of a hammock swing, every detail has been carefully designed to ensure that all children can enjoy the space.
Whether your child is a thrill-seeker ready to zip down the high-speed slide, or someone who prefers a calmer experience, The Whale offers something for everyone.
In celebration of this exciting new addition, Weston Town Council will soon be launching a competition to name The Whale.

This is just the first of many new play installations planned for the Adventure Water Play Park, with more exciting updates to follow, a spokesperson for the town council said.
