ANYONE interested in a rewarding career in adult social care is invited to attend an informal event hosted by North Somerset Council taking place next week (Tuesday, October 15) in Weston-super-Mare.
Event Details
Date: Tuesday 15 October
• Time: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
• Location: Tamar Court, Tamar Road, Weston-super-Mare, BS22 6BU
• Free refreshments and cake provided, and children welcome!
Anyone attending will have the chance to meet care professionals working in the sector and ask questions to discover which roles suit you, such as:
• What is it like to work in the care industry?
• What are the potential earnings?
• What is involved in caring for individuals?
• What are the differences between agency work and permanent contracts?
• What are the differences between domiciliary care and working in a care home?
Opportunity North Somerset (ONS) will be there to provide personalised support and referrals to wider employment and skills services.
Whether dealing with a loss of confidence, redundancy, or barriers such as disability, mental health conditions, or digital exclusion, ONS connects residents with the right support.
Event attendees will also be able to make use of assistance with job applications, CV writing, and receive advice tailored to their situation.
Councillor Mark Canniford, North Somerset Council’s executive member for Spatial Planning, Placemaking and Economy, said: "The demand for compassionate and dedicated individuals in adult social care has never been greater.
“This event is a fantastic opportunity for local residents to explore rewarding careers that make a real difference in people’s lives.
“We are committed to supporting jobseekers in finding fulfilling roles in this essential sector."
